The World According To Troy 2/27/09

Hello,

Hope everyone dug out okay from yesterday. We started our day with blueberry muffins, fruit and milk. During circle time Zoey had the Show and Share box. She had some pretty tricky clues. They were: 1. There's something inside it. 2. It can open and close. 3. You can put it your room whenever you want. I have to admit these clues were pretty tricky. I don't think I would have guessed correctly if I didn't see it first! Good job Zoey! We then had our snack of cheez- it crackers and juice. During area time Alex, Isaiah, Ethan, Tejas, Adam , Earah, Aidan and Troy took turns in the block area. They have really had fun with the zoo animals. Matthew, Shantell, Kaitlyn, Trinity, Lizzie and Sreeya all took turns painting at the easel. Very messy but they loved it. Nathan played at the sensory table with a visitor Alex C. Zoey and Avery worked with playdough. Hailee was on the computer. We cleaned up and listened to a tape story we borrowed from the book mobile called Anansi Goes Fishing. We then sat down for a favorite fish sticks with ketchup, mixed vegetables and fruit. Anything that involves ketchup is always a big hit. We want to say a big horray for Aidan and Sreeya who tied for growing readers this month. Way to go guys!!!!! A reminder : Please check your child's cubby to make sure they have a change of clothing even socks and underwear. Thanks!

Have a great weekend!
Anne and Andrea

SIDE NOTE: We received about 6-8 inches of snow within a period of 6 hours.

The World According To Troy 2/26/09

Hello!

Well the snow has finally arrived! The kids have been asking all morning. "When's it going to snow!?" They'll be excited to see it once they all wake up!

We started the day with cream of wheat, bananas and milk. It was a little chilly outside so we decided to stay in for the morning and choose areas to play. After a little while it was time to clean up and go to group. We did the calendar and weather chart and then Adam did the show and share box! His clues were: 1. We are two animals. 2. One has a beak and flies and it's the and is the Minnesota State bird. 3. The other has spots with black and white stripes at the end of its tail. They were a loon and a leopard (?)...there was some heated discussion on whether it was really a leapard, a cheetah, or a cougar. I don't think we ever did come to an agreement...haha.
Then half of the class got to go out to the bookmobile and we picked out new books for everyone. We got a lot of disney princess ones this time around for some reason or other!
When we came back in it was time for Kaitlyn and Zoey to go off to dance class. She took a couple new kids today to try it out: Lizzie and Earah. The teacher said both did a wonderful job and had a blast! If you ever want your child to try it out let us know...or if your child has already tried it and has expressed intrest and you'd like to sign them up let us know that as well! The rest of the children sat down for snack. Today was pretzels and juice.
We then picked centers to play in. Sreeya, Lizzie, Shantell, Isaiah, Troy and Hailee did some painting at the art easel. Hailee also played on the computer. Aidan, Nathan, Earah, Grace, Kaitlyn, Isaiah and Sreeya played our new "Good Night Moon" game with Ms. Anne. Kaitlyn and Trinity played with the mood sand also.
Shantell, Adam and Matthew played in houskeeping. Ethan and Tejas played in the block area.
Zoey and Avery played in the sensory tub.
Then we cleaned up and went to group where we read a new tape story that was very silly and had the kids laughing. It was called "Why animals should not wear clothing." Then we played a game where they all had to pretend to be asleep on the floor until they got tapped by the "wake up wand" to go wash their hands for lunch. We had a lot of giggles then too! For lunch we had soft tacos, taco meat, lettuce, salsa and cheese, corn and mixed fruit.

I hope everyone has a careful ride home tonight! Tomorrow is Teddy Bear Day!

Hello Everyone!

Hope you are having a good week so far, only two more days to go!
Today we started off our morning with a breakfast of cinnamon rolls, pears and milk.
Then we all got our gear on and went outside! It was another beautiful day and we stayed out for about 45 minutes!
When it was time to go inside we had to do some shifting of some kids because Ms. Andrea was out today. So Lizzie, Troy, Josephine, Alex, Matthew, Adam, Earah, Trinity, and Hailee all went to Ms. Tracy and Ms. Becky's class for the rest of the day.
The other children stayed with me and we came inside and got our gear off and went to group. We played two singing/interactive games. One was Monkey's swinging in the tree and the other was Speckled Frogs. They got to act out the parts while we sang!
Then it was snack time. We had graham crackers and juice.
After snack we had another short group time. We did the calendar and weather chart and then read the book "Out and About at the Zoo".
Then Ms. Darla came to take our music kids to their class. While they were gone the rest of the kids cleaned up the room and we did a tape story (Farmer Duck) and then played musical chairs.
Then it was time for lunch! Today was turkey and cheese sandwiches, mandarin oranges, peas and milk.
Have a great evening!
Anne

Today we started our day with cereal, raisins and milk. Then we geared up and went outside for 45 minutes. The kids had a ball running and playing in the sunshine. We came in and had a yummy snack of chips and salsa.

"We had circle time and we listened to Troy's clues about what he had in the Show and Share box. 1. He wears a hat. 2. He has a horse named Bullseye. 3. He likes to say "Yeeha, Cowboy!" It was a talking Woody. Very cool! "
We also read a cute hide & peek book called Eliot and The Big Berry Hunt. We then chose areas to play in. Adam and Aidan played with the doll house. Alex, Isaiah and Ethan played in blocks. Zoey and Avery danced to our music we had playing. Troy and Hailee played in housekeeping. Matthew and Shantell were at the sensory table where we had sink and float items. Josephine, Grace, Tejas, Kaitlyn, Lizzie and Sreeya made a snake at the art table. We then cleaned up to get ready for lunch and Anne played a game with the kids. The mystery bag. Emma has a new word today. It is
"COLOR."
She has been pretty adamant lately to color anything and everything.

The World According To Troy - 2/23/09

Troy's teachers, Miss Anne and Miss Andrea send us daily emails to let us know what Troy's class is up to and what activities they participate in each day. Matt and I both find ourselves talking about these updates as one of the main highlights to a stressful and busy day.
Read on to see what Troy did today:

Emma v. Shiloh - You Decide

She may not have those Jolie lips...but I do think they share some similarities. After all, their parents both share a perfect genetic make-up......LOL!

Emma - 19 Months Old

My little girl just turned 19 months old. I have not updated any of her information in awhile, partly because there was nothing to update. We still have not had her 18 month check up due to a series of ear infections. Her doctor wanted her well for her check-up, so it is coming shortly. So, for those of you interested in her weight...I do do not know. For those of you interested in her height...she is tall. For those of you interested in the size of her head...she still has a peanut head in comparison to her brother. All-in-all, she is getting so big.
She knows who mummy and daddy are, and calls us such. She already loves playing and beating up on her brother when the situation warrants. She also says the words: No, please, ba-bye, na-night, thank you, cookie, cracker, milk, "meme" for minnie, baby, "mee-maw" for grandma, apple, nana for banana, nanna for nanna Ann, papa, book, duck, shoe and doggy.
Her eyes are very blue like her parents, her hair color is blondish-brown or mousy with curls like her mum. When she smiles, her eyes close and she has the biggest grin with dimples!
She and Troy are just getting so big, it is amazing the new things that come out of their mouth every day.
