Emma - 5 Months Old
Emma has really started to show her personality. She still is not rolling over, however she will finish the job when assisted. Her latest is grabbing for things. She loves grabbing her animals on her mat. She also loves playing with her linkadoos and looking at herself in the mirror. She talks a lot more than Troy ever did at this age, that I can remember anyway.
Emma has started teething as well, so she is no longer sleeping through the night. Baby Einstein CDs help a lot! However, when you don't suck your thumb or take a pacifier, what else is there? Emma has resorted to sucking on her arm. Usually she has long sleeves on, so that helps. I am hoping she takes something else soon!

We Saw Santa!!!
We went to the Mall of America to see Santa this past weekend. Troy did not do well with Santa last year, so it ended up being a family photo. This year was a little better. Santa showed Troy how he makes Thomas the train. Troy was fascinated until it came time to take the picture. Emma could have cared less. It was time for her nap, so Santa decided to cuddle up with her and nap as well. Too cute!!
Christmas Cookies
Troy likes to help me in the kitchen. He will often push a chair in to help wash Emma's feet in the bath, or help with decorating the Christmas cookies. I think he ate more sprinkles than what he put on the cookies. I wonder where he gets that sweet tooth from...
Winter Has Arrived!!
A few weeks ago, the Twin Cities received a lot of snow. It was not quite the blizzard everyone called it. However, Troy and Matt were still able to go out sledding in the backyard. Troy was so cold by the time they finally came in. Even though this was not the first time he has seen snow, it was the first time he realized the effects of snow and how much fun it can be.
The Holidays Are Here!!
The holidays are here, which means Christmas pictures for the Mehlbrech clan. My smiley, jovial 2 year-old, however, was not impressed. Emma was equally unimpressed, especially with her mum, who forgot her formula. Yikes! Luckily we live 5 minutes from the Mall of America.Anyway, Christmas cards should be coming out soon.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!
We had a snowy Thanksgiving this year. Grandma and Grandpa Mehlbrech came up for the feast, along with Aunt Becky. We had a great meal, if I do say so myself.
Val [Grandma Mehlbrech] and I braved Black Friday. We left the house at 3 a.m. and it was cold!!! 10 hours later, we returned home with a van full of items. Not many people can say that they braved the Mall of America on Black Friday, but we did it! Thanks for a great day, Val!

Emma - 4 Months
Emma had her 4 month appointment recently. She was a whopping 15 pounds, 10 ounces!! That is in the 85% for weight. For length, she was 24 and 3/4 inches, which is in the 75% for height. She has a peanut of a head...only 25% for that.
The doctor said that she is ahead developmentally for gross motor skills. She did roll over once, but I think that was a coincidence. Otherwise, she is my beautiful, smiley, and happy girl.
While Daddy Was Away, Grandma and Grandpa Came to Play!!
The first weekend in November, Matt decided to go pheasant hunting with his dad and crazy uncles. So, Grandma and Grandpa Eagle came up to visit! They had such a good time, they even wore Emma out in her Jumparoo!!
Troy's School Photos
Troy's teacher said that he liked having his picture taken so much that he kept going back in line for more! I am amazed that they got him to put his hands on his knee and have him sitting so nice! Is this really my 2 year-old??
The Pumpkin Project
Troy helped me carve one of the pumpkins today. He was a big help taking out all of the seeds and gooey mess inside. Then when it came time for the design, he was great at helping me punch holes in the pumpkin. However, when it came time to actually cut out the pieces, he kept trying to put them back in their holes. Anyway, we could not wait for it to get dark outisde in order to see our masterpiece.
Fall is Here!!
This past weekend we drove to Jim's Apple Farm to pick up some pumpkins. As you can see, Troy was a big help pushing and pulling the wagon. He even picked out his own pumpkin.We went home with a Daddy-size pumpkin, a mummy-size pumpkin, a Troy-size pumpkin, an Emma-size pumpkin, some apple cookies [so good!] and a frozen Apple Crisp Pie for Thanksgiving Dinner. A successful Saturday morning, I say.
Nanna Is Gone!!!

Nanna's stay went very quickly. She arrived on September 23rd and left this past week, October 18th. We fit so much in and she was a big help, especially with those middle of the night feeds! Thanks Nanna!

Emma - Three Months
I can not believe Emma is three months already. She is smiling so much now! We love it! She is holding her head up very well, and has started to jump around in her jumparoo!! We do not have another appointment with the doctor until she is four-months-old, but it looks as though she has grown almost another inch, and is starting the transformation into the 3-6 month clothes.
The Wonderful World of Disney - Long Post
We finally went through all of the photos and found quite a few to show you what a great time we had.
As you can see, we fit a lot in. Matt had already flown down on the Sunday. The rest of us flew down on Wednesday, the 10th. Emma was quite well behaved for her first flight. Troy slept most of the way, which was nice. We left 50 degree weather and arrived at beautiful 80 and 90 degree weather.
We stayed at the Caribbean Resort, which is connected to the Disney theme parks. Matt finished up his conference on Thursday, and the rest of us played in the Pirate-themed pool. We went to Downtown Disney that night and Troy went on a couple of smaller rides with Matt. In the mean time, I made my mum put on every Mickey-ears hat and take photos with so many characters. She was a good sport.
We headed to the Magic Kindom early on Friday for their Little Tikes Hour [We were able to get in one hour early with the kids, which was fantastic!] We saw so many characters and rode the Merry-Go-Round with Goofy, Mary Poppins and Bert. Troy even played hide-n-seek with Pooh and Tigger and listened to Alice in Wonderland tell a story.
Matt and I even went on some rides. Matt spun me around on the tea cups, and we tried our luck on Space Mountain and only had about a 5 minute wait, which I think is a record. We took the kids back to the hotel for their naps after almost four hours at the park.
After their naps, we left for Animal Kingdom to make it in time for Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade. After a great parade, we went on the Kilamanjaru Safari. This was fantastic! We saw so many animals, and drove right up next to a white rhino. On our way out of the park, my mum surprised me by saying she would go on EVEREST with me. This ride is very hyped around the theme parks, and it did not disappoint. Since it was at the end of the day, we did not have to wait long again. I really wish I would have bought the photo that was taken to remember my mother's worrisome face.
Saturday, we started early again at MGM. I was a little disappointed though. Troy could not do much, but we went to the Playhouse Disney show and a Magic Movie Ride at the Chinese Theatre. The lines to see the characters were so long, but we managed to see Pluto. Troy wanted nothing to do with the characters. He was shy with all of them, even Lightning McQueen and Mater!!
Again, we headed back for their naps. After they woke up, we headed to Epcot for the afternoon. We were a little disappointed, because they had a food and wine tasting exhibition on for the month, therefore there were a ton of people around. A lot more than usual, anyway. We had a great time though. I would like to go back and take more time through the different countries and cultures.
Saturday night, my mother let Matt and I out of the room in order to see the Fireworks. We ended up at the Magic Kindom for the Fireworks, and they were great! I recommend everyone see them at least once! Tinkerbell even flew down from the castle!
It was a great trip, and I was sad to leave. Troy and Emma will most likely not remember it, but I am sure the rest of us will.

Emma's Baptism
As stated below, the family filled the car and drove down to Bridgewater, South Dakota. Matt's grandparents and extended family live in this small town of roughly 500 people. The drive actually took us less time than it does to drive to Monroe, Wisconsin. We left in rainy, stormy weather and arrived in Bridgewater to sunshine and nice weather. However, on Sunday, it was stormy and rainy.
Nevertheless, the baptism went very well. We asked Matt's cousin, Paul, and his wife, Shannon, to be Emma's Godparents. Emma wore an old Baptismal dress, handed down from my dad's side. We are not sure who all has worn it, but it is quite old.
It was great seeing everyone. A special thank you to Matt's grandparents for hosting the after party and taking on so many people at their house.

Run Nanna Run!!!
My mother, a.k.a. Nanna, came to visit us this past week from Australia. We fit a lot into the the week, as you can see by the photos. She helped a lot with feeding Emma and keeping her awake for Tummy Time. We also took her to Bubba Gump Shrimp and introduced her to the Mall of America.
Last Saturday, we headed to Bridgewater, South Dakota for Emma's baptism. Before we could leave though, we took her to one of the most unique Palaces in all of the World - The Corn Palace! It is the only one in the world, go figure, and has decorations made up entirely of corn. The artistry is really quite amazing. Good thing there are all sorts of colors of corn!
For those of you who are fans of Road Rules on MTV, you will remember back to Season 1, where they took a detour to the Corn Palace.
Anyway, now Nanna is in Monroe, Wisconsin spending the week with her mum.

Emma - Two Months
Emma had her two month appointment today. She weighed 10 pounds, 7 ounces and measured 22 and 3/4 inches long. The doctor thought she was doing great! She is not off the charts like her brother, but was in the 50 percentile for weight and 75 percent for height. I know I am biased, but isn't she adorable?
