Emma - 7 Months

My little girl is getting so big! This past month Emma has babbled even more and screamed to new octaves...literally! The other day, Troy in response to Emma's repeated screams finally said, "Ahhhhhhhhhhh!" That stopped her for a moment. When she likes certain foods, she lets out a scream. When she really doesn't like certain foods, she tries to twist her head around and grunts. It's quite humorous. She has been rolling from her tummy to her back, and is trying so hard to roll from her back to her tummy. She has even been trying to scoot her legs up and manages to maneuver herself in a circle.
Either way, with every month, her smiles get bigger and bigger if that is even possible. Her favorite toy at the moment is the Wiggly Giggler. It looks like a hand weight and you can see it in the second photo. You shake that across the room and she immediately stops what she is doing. She loves it! She has even started to be able to shake it and make the noise.

How to Use Chopsticks - 101

First - You want to make sure you eye up the chopsticks. Size really does matter... [that's pretty funny!]

Secondly - You taste the chopsticks. You want to make sure you know what you are getting yourself into. [Yikes - This is getting dirty!]

Finally - You want to make sure you get an adequate amount of food, and therefore, use both chopsticks to pick up your food. [There is nothing funny about it, using chopsticks is hard stuff!]

Definitely, Maybe

Emma and I lucked out on Valentine's Day. We not only met Matt for lunch, but we were able to stick around for a movie. Definitely, Maybe, a chick-flick of sorts was a really interesting movie, and not your typical sappy, predictable movie. It is almost a who-dunnit.

Synopsis by imdb.com - Will Hayes (Ryan Reynolds) has just received divorce papers from his wife to sign at his advertising office in New York City. He picks up his 11-year-old daughter, Maya (Abigail Breslin) at school where she has just been taught sex education. Will can't take these new sex questions that Maya is asking him. So when she asks him to tell the story about how he met her mother, and how they really fell in love, Will thought this would be easier to explain to her. Will decides to tell Maya a bedtime story in the form of a puzzle with the names changed so she must figure out which of the three loves of his life became his wife and her mother. His story begins in 1992 when Will moves to New York City from Madison, Wisconsin, to work on the Clinton presidential campaign. He must leave behind his first love Emily (Elizabeth Banks) who is his college sweetheart. In New York, he meets his second love, April (Isla Fisher) at the campaign office. His third love is Summer (Rachel Weisz) a journalist who writes for the 'New Yorker' magazine. Maya begins to understand that love is not so simple, but she is able to put all the pieces of his three love stories together and solves the puzzle.

The funniest parts of this movie were during the Clinton campaign years. There were quite a few people in the theatre laughing at those. Another interesting part was the cameo by Kevin Kline, who played a professor who went after the female students, namely, Rachel Weisz's character. Anyway, an enjoyable movie and one I knew Matt would not want to see.

Emma was not the best during this movie. She dirtyed her diaper right when the movie started. She still slept a little, but could not hold for the end, since we missed the last minute or so. I pretty much knew though at that point what happened. I enjoyed the movie. It might be better though as a rental. I will say we are 5 for 6, since we did not make it to the credits.

"I Peed in the Potty!!"

All of our hard work has finally been paying off. Yes, I am talking about Troy and the potty. Friday night it began. When Sunday rolled around, he was so excited with his success.
"I peed in the potty!"
Matt and I were so excited as well. Let's hope the success continues!

27 Dresses

The movie this past week was 27 Dresses. Emma and I ventured to the Mall of America to see the show. After a diaper change and making sure her bottle was ready for a feed, we went in. I really enjoyed this movie. Was it predictable going in? Yes. However, it focused on something I always wondered....where do all of those dresses go?

Side Note: A friend of mine donated her dresses to a charity for high school students. The dresses are used as prom dresses for those who can't afford a dress. Great cause!! She did not have 27 dresses to offer, but anything I am sure is appreciated. I digress....

Katherine Heigl is really moving up the ladder in the acting world. I could not believe it when I heard she was the central character in the movie, My Father the Hero, with Gerard Depardieu back in 1994. Anyway, she was great in this movie as Jane, the assistant to Edward Burns character, George. Who would not fall for this guy? James Marsden, love him also, plays the Commitment columnist, Kevin, who covers major weddings and catches onto Jane's wedding ways as he sees her attending two weddings in one night, and she is a bridesmaid!!!

Short version to finish it off...Jane's love for George, her boss, does not last after finding out she has fallen for Kevin. Who wouldn't love someone who can sing the high notes to Benny and the jets?? Case closed....

Emma did well again. I have been really lucky, but it is also about picking the right time for the movie. Either way...I am 5 for 5!!

Cirque du Soleil Here I Come!!

See mummy, I told you I could do it!!

Matt's parents came up last weekend to visit and play with the kids. Emma did not want to roll it seemed until after they left. Sunday afternoon, she rolled over three times. We are still working on back to tummy, but it's just a matter of time now. She is also showing signs of frustration, because she is trying to get her butt up in the air. Troy's trains may not be safe for very long.

Bring On Super Tuesday!!!
